Veedersburg - Darrel D. "Duke" Davis, 56, of Veedersburg, died this morning in his home. He had been in ill health several years. Mr. Davis was a molder with the Fountain Foundry here until retirement due to ill health in 1965. A native of Fountain County, he had been a resident of Veedersburg 16 years and was a veteran of WWII. Born March 14, 1918, he was a son of John and Josephine Allen Davis. He married Frances L. Keller Aug 17, 1939. She survives. Also surviving are his mother of Rt 2, Kingman, 5 daughters, Mrs. Norman (Patricia) Spencer of Sultan, Wash; Mrs. Wayne (Marilynne) Dow of Hillsboro; Mrs. Gene (Carol) Fogleman of Covington; Mrs. Charles (Deanna) Holland of Crawfordsville and Darla Davis at home; two sisters, Mrs. Kenneth (Lucille) Abernathy of Rt 1, Covington and Mrs. Virginia Hoover of Veedersburg; a brother, Harley of Rt 2, Kingman and 17 grandchildren. Two sons, two brothers and his father are deceased. Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday in Bodine & Shelby Funeral Home at Covington with burial in Coal Creek Cemetery. There will be military graveside rites. Friends may call at the funeral home after 2 p.m Sunday.
